Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. She is an American actor in stage and films. Her most notable role in the role of Teri, the passionate attorney Teri Jospehson in the Showtime television series Soul Food. After her wedding to her husband, she was referred to by the name Nikki Kodjoe. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her childhood and received a Best Actress prize at a Maryland high-school competition. Alongside her involvement in the theater and in the ballet company, she was also a part of The Washington Ballet Company.' She received the degree of Acting at New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut performance in a feature film won her great admiration. Then came movies like "Boogie Nights Spark" and Blue Streak. Contractor Born from Mumbai in India she was raised in Nigeria through the age of seven. She had already experienced a lot of travel and cultures from a early age. From the age of seven until nine, Contractor went to boarding school in London. The family later relocated to Toronto and she resided there for most of her childhood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts which focuses on dance and theater. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that performing would become her profession. She had danced for a decade. As soon as she finished her high school education, she was awarded an entire scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and also double majored with sociology and psychology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having completed her university degree, went on to audition during an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the part. She received rave reviews for her work during the 92 performances that this play, which was named as the best production by Canadian reviewers in 2002. Contractor accepted an invitation to take part in Stratford's Conservatory course. Only eight men selected and four females are admitted to a course of 20 weeks in classical theater. She was scheduled to perform in the following season's production was confirmed. She got the part in Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
